Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has stated that the assassination of Lee Rigby demonstrates that there exists a genuine issue within Islamic communities.
Tony Blair possesses firsthand knowledge of Islam. His sister-in-law Lauren Booth, born into a Christian family, converted to the faith of Muhammad following what she described as "a wonderful experience at an Islamic temple in Iran," as she told The Mail on Sunday on October 24, 2010. She added, "I have always considered the Ummah (community of Muslim believers) a place overflowing with love and peace, and I am proud to be part of it." Booth, a journalist and former human rights activist, noted that she now prays five times daily and occasionally visits a mosque, not ruling out the possibility of wearing a burqa in the future.
Tony Blair, like British politicians and opinion leaders, is aware that half of Britain's mosques (more than 600 of the country's 1,350 mosques) are managed by the Deobandi movement, a Muslim tendency dominant in Afghanistan and Pakistan that preaches jihadism and stands radically opposed to the influences of the "immoral infidels" of the West.
These "pernicious immoral influences of the Jewish and Christian infidels" include democracy, the supremacy of state law over religion, the separation of religion and politics, religion as a private rather than public matter, gender equality, freedom of worship, faith and religion, the right to apostasy and conversion to another religion, freedom of the press, and freedom in general.
Tony Blair told the same British newspaper, The Mail on Sunday, on Sunday, June 2, 2025, that "there is a problem within Islam," becoming one of the first politicians to depart from the naive argument that Islam is a peaceful religion that must not be corrupted by the actions of a few extremists. The former premier has urged governments to be honest and admit that the problem is more widespread.
Half of the mosques preaching hatred against non-Muslims, death to infidels, and the subjugation of humanity to Islam—more than 600 of 1,350 mosques with sheikhs and imams who exalt martyrdom, Islamism, and hatred of the other—is not a minority misinterpreting the Quran, nor a minority instilling nihilistic and destructive values.
All religions have extremists, but where and when have Hasidic Jewish groups or cloistered monks and nuns blown themselves up and murdered "infidels" in the name of the faith of Moses or Jesus?
Jews and Christians have religious groups that live an extreme religious life, but they dedicate themselves to study in yeshivot and seminaries. None of these wield weapons and murder those who do not share their faith in the name of their religion, neither of Moses nor of Jesus, respectively.
And if there were—which there are not—some mindless religious murderer, Jewish or Christian, who did so, they would have absolutely no support from the rest of their companions and co-religionists; they would be rejected and repudiated absolutely.
But what about Islam?
How can one argue that Islam is misinterpreted if at least half of the mosques, as far as is known, explicitly support Jihad, the Holy War of Islam?
Could it not be that European opinion leaders and politicians look the other way, flee and refuse to analyze the data that their own security agencies provide them, in the name of foolish and suicidal naivety?
Politicians and opinion leaders have a duty to defend their populations and face the information that their security agencies provide them, to analyze and be honest, to understand and consider that terrorism is asymmetric warfare, to demand obedience to civil power from Muslim leaders, and to prosecute jihadist leaders.
Western permissiveness in the face of Islamic totalitarianism is perceived by Islamists as weakness, lack of security, and absence of convictions among Europeans, which reinforces Islamism.
Democracy is difficult to achieve and easy to destroy. The West will be covered by the green and terrifying mantle of Islam if it does not understand that its indifference and apathy, the fruit of lack of nerve and will to exist, are the nourishment of totalitarianism—once of Nazism, of Communism, and now of Islamism.

5 Responses to Tony Blair: "There's a Problem Within Islam"
Indeed, there is a problem in Islam: Tony Blair and people like Tony Blair.
We learn very little; in England there have been more than two hundred attacks and incidents against the Muslim community since the soldier's murder and public beheading. Very little is revealed, and in general terms... There are reasons, very powerful ones, but media control following the murder in the Canary Islands of the Jewish tabloid magnate (by Mossad itself—Dimona affair). Another example: a few days ago there was an attack on the LGTB collective headquarters in Israel, with two deaths, linked to another from at least a year ago... Israeli police, who have already arrested the perpetrators (Jewish), imposed a press CENSURE and no one until today had found out, and look how Jews love forums and talking about everything, but about everything... Media control is iron-clad; what is published and public opinion is modulated from cradle to death, or what is the same, we speak of what I want to be spoken of. "The thousand hills" speak... (It's a better qualifier than saying "The rabble" because that slips by them; when you speak of journalistic manipulation and murder by press induction (genocide), speak of them as "The Thousand Hills"—if you don't know what I'm talking about, they do...)
And there certainly is a problem. Analyze, Tony Blair, what you did during your years in government. You are one of those responsible for their arrival in Europe and their appearance and/or radicalization in the Middle East.
The response has already occurred; I just heard on the news that a mosque of the Somali community is burning and that graffiti from far-right groups appeared on its walls, so white and bottled, milk, or the infiltrators from the interior ministry directing some extremists and doing the dirty work for capitalists who have provoked this problem through, as the penultimate paragraph says, "Western permissiveness in the face of Islamic totalitarianism..." I ask all Falangists to think with their heads and not be carried away by impulses that lead nowhere; the problem, which exists, should be fixed by those who provoked it, capitalism. Let's not act as a cipayo force for these people. They will surely fix it, and they will do so as they do everything, provoking more injustice and thus giving more wings to Islamist terrorism—injustice against injustice, whoever employs more injustice in their response will win.
